High Load permit
A High Load Permit may be required if you are moving large structures by road. Typical high loads include houses, boats, machinery and industrial structures. When transporting any load over 4.25m high, the transporting vehicle must carry a High Load Permit from the appropriate companies in accordance with NZTA requirements.
- For Loads up to 4.25 metres high: No Permit is required.
- For Loads between 4.25 and 5.0 metres high: No Permit required but you must have written permission from the owner of any overhead obstruction that the vehicle can't clear safely.
- For Loads between 5.0 and 5.5 metres high: We will check the proposed route and if the route is clear to the height required, a Permit will be issued. If there are low lines we arrange to escort and manage the obstruction at no cost.
- For Loads over 5.5 metres high: We will check the proposed route and if the route is clear to the height required, a Permit will be issued. If the route is not clear we will arrange an escort and manage the obstructions for which a charge will apply. Where an escort is required charges may be incurred. Escorts are normally charged on a time, materials and vehicle basis. Please call us on 0800 822 124 if you would like an indication of costs.
Once we have received your application we will determine if an escort is required and issue a High Load Permit if approved.
A copy of the Permit will be emailed to you and it must be carried by the transporting vehicle.
If you have any issues with this form please call us on 0800 822 124 or email us.
This application must be submitted with a minimum of 2 clear working days notice. All loads may be subject to a route check.
